Welcome to Cucaramacara Mexican Eatery!

So, if you don’t speak Spanish you may be wondering just what “Cucaramacara” means? Cucaramacara is a phrase that loosely translates to mean “eanie-meanie-minie-mo” and is used to pick teammates when playing children’s games. The owner, Laura Tsuzuki (known to her family and friends as “Chata”), comes from Chiapas, Mexico where she used this phrase frequently as a child.

Chiapas [ chee-AH-pahs ] is the southern-most state of Mexico, bordering Guatemala. It’s rich in natural beauty and history. The terrain ranges from temperate coastal plains along the Pacific Ocean, to lush tropical forest, to the majestic Sierra Madre de Chiapas. At one time, this region was the center of the Mayan civilization. To this day, Chiapas is one of the few areas of Mexico able to retain it’s unique cultural identity with more than 40% of it’s people of indigenous decent.

This is where Chata learned to cook, from her mother and grandmother. Ever since Chata came to this country in 1991; the dream was to share her love of traditional Mexican cooking. In December 2008 she realized that dream when Cucaramacara opened for business.

So, what makes Cucaramacara different? That’s easy, Chata!

Chata is passionate about preparing the most authentic Mexican dishes in the area. Each dish is prepared by hand with the freshest ingredients. Her clientele has a strong Hispanic following and Laura feels that’s because her dishes remind them of “home”. So, you may need to wait a little longer, but it’s well worth the anticipation!

We invite you to stop by and experience authentic “Mexican food made fresh.”
